Romans 12:2 (NIV)
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Godâs will isâhis good, pleasing and perfect will.
CHAPTER 11
GET DISCIPLINED
You can know something but not know how to execute or walk it out. One of the things I love doing is helping people bridge the gap between their dreams and their reality. Jaree and I love to assist people with fixing their dreamer muscles. In my experience, I have found the majority of people have lost the ability to use their dreamer muscles. They wind up living life in an apathetic, near-comatose state. I coach people on how to design their lives by discovering what they really want and then assist them in creating a plan to achieve it. The key is to help people understand that a dream without a plan is just a wish.
The world is full of joiners who have good intentions but no follow-through. Success takes commitment, resolve, and grit. Commitment is doing what you said you would do long after the feeling you said it in has left you. Resolve means that you will keep going and that there is no quit date. You have the resolve to complete what you started off to do.
Success also means different things to different people. For you, it may be more money, more family time, or an extra vacation every year. For others it may mean giving more to their favorite charity or organization. What about earning enough to make sure your parents are well taken care of or that you can help a child with college? For me, success is about producing great things and mentoring others to create peace in their lives. I find great fulfillment in doing things that matter with people who care and sometimes showing up in others testimonials. One of the best feelings in the world is impacting another personâs life so dramatically that he or she refers to meeting you as a turning point in his or her life.
Sometimes in life, itâs almost like you need a do-over. A complete life rehab!
I am a firm believer of the ability to reinvent ourselves anytime we choose. When you screw it all up, go to bed with the confidence that new grace and opportunity will be waiting the next day. We have the power to decide that, âthe next three years will be much better than the last three years.â We can tear up the old script and the old goals and make new ones. We can go from being ridiculously unhealthy, to being fit, fueled, and focused in a matter of months. I have heard that heart attack survivors often become the healthiest people in the world. Why is this? Maybe they finally realize that they have to change or they could die. What a huge motivator!
I remember hearing the story about Jesusâ disciples and how radically they all changed.
During the time of Jesusâ persecution, all his disciples hid from him, and Peter even denied him three times.
